An XL mouse pad is going to made from a variety of materials, this Hyper XL mat is made from polyester. This one serves no other functional purpose and won’t hold a paper calendar (not that anyone uses them anymore), but XL mouse pads can come with RGB lighting, additional ergonomic padding, or additional cooling. The surface is not the best for handwriting, because it is soft and if you are not careful you can easily puncture through a single piece of paper on the mat. If you don’t poke a hole, the XL Mouse Pad does allow for a very smooth ink release and I use it to write on every single day (I’m just careful). Since the surface is soft, it is more comfortable to rest your hands, wrists, and arms.
