I’ve had my AirLoft Vest for over a year now…
I’m a huge fan of my AirLoft shirt jacket so when Western Rise asked me if I wanted the AirLoft Vest, I thought it was a no-brainer.
It’s been over a year now since I’ve had the vest and I have some thoughts…
Love, love, love the AirLoft Material
There’s so many technical benefits to the AirLoft Vest fabric.
It’s breathable, warm, wind resistant, waterproof, and has many large zipper pockets!
1. It really is waterproof!
The Western Rise AirLoft fabric is truly waterproof, and it did not fade! I’ve washed mine in the laundry multiple times, just DO NOT put it in the dryer as that may affect the waterproof ability. I hang dried mine and it’s been awesome!
For example, I literally was just caught in a rainstorm last night and was so thankful to be able to keep my core dry to keep from getting sick as it was a bit chili outside. I was wearing my AirLoft Vest underneath my AirLoft Shirt Jacket, with my Conner Waterproof Hat and together they kept me completely dry.
2. It kind of adapts to your body temperature
Even with all the wind resistant/waterproof abilities, I noticed that I can wear this thing to sleep if I wanted to!
3. Zippered Large Pockets FTW
Since all of the pockets have zippers, I can basically do anything with it. Work on cars, shoot content, lounge, go out, travel, etc. Why? Because I can fit so much stuff in these pockets!
For example, I stick my wallet and keys in the inside pocket, I can then fit my phone in one of the front pocket alongside my DJI OM5 and small tripod for on the go video creation with room to spare.
When traveling, there’s plenty of room for passports and more…
4. It comes in the three main staple colors
Cons: Not everything is perfect, but this comes close!
1. The Binding has faded
I have a black one. The black AirLoft fabric itself looks as good as it did on day one.
However, the binding around the edge of the arm holes has faded a bit over the last year.
2. That’s it!
Honestly, that’s all that’s bad about this. While I would have liked front chest pockets like the Jacket had, not having them lends to a sleeker look and makes it easier to layer this underneath another coat, etc.
